FAQs for moves
-
Please fill out an Estimate Form or call us at 503-468-6169 to get the ball rolling. We often need to come see your items in person to make sure we give an accurate estimate, though for smaller moves a video walkthrough can suffice. Our prices vary depending on the time of day and day of the week (as mandated by ODOT) so knowing your preferred move date is important for the estimate. Don’t be aftraid to reach out for a last-minute booking - we keep extra spots open around the end of each month to accomodate these needs.

We are fully certified as Household Goods Movers in the state of Oregon; a highly regulated title with numerous prerequisites. We hold policies with higher limits than what is required for commercial auto, general liability, worker’s compensation, and cargo insurance.
-
Yes! Unless you request otherwise, our standard rates are for an appropriately-sized crew and a truck. We do offer labor-only moves which are less expensive, but you are responsible for booking (and driving) a rental truck. There are also limitations on what is covered by insurance for labor-only moves.
-
YES; if the piece of furniture is:
Made out of pressboard.

No;

Only contains clothing and linens

We love if you do! It is considered customary to tip 10-20% for service workers of all types.

Yes! Your business involves specialized logistics and the need for precision in planning which we have a strong track record in providing. Working with local governments and nonprofits gives us an edge in records-keeping practices and training. We can also help you meet goals for diversion and recycling during and after your move.

That is literally our “main thing” and the reason we started this business! The leftover items you have that don’t fit or have a purpose in your new space are just sparkling for their next destination, and we want to take them there. Oftentimes, knowing what will become of our trash can make it easier to let go (we think so anyways) because you’re not really letting go - those things will forever be a part of your world. We have a goal to expand the way we talk about stuff alongside this other more tangible work. Talk to us about downsizing!

No, but it’s a really good idea if you can swing it because last-minute packing is a lot more expensive. Instead, ask for packing help ahead of time and we’ll send a smaller crew to get it done efficiently. We can also drop off boxes and packing supplies to get you started, and troubleshoot for difficult to pack items.
On the day of the move, we’ll need to repack any boxes that aren’t packed evenly or padded adequately so that nothing gets damaged. Ask us for help ahead of time if you’re struggling at all. -
Here’s a few!
Try making a list ahead of time with even a couple of milestones for packing, such as getting boxes dropped off, packing off-season clothes, or starting a purge-pile
Regarding that purge-pile - remember that a lot of what you have fits really well within your current space, and might fit differently somewhere else. Don’t be afraid to let go of some things you’ve already enjoyed - it will certainly simplify your move.
Try to use boxes that stack well together - old Amazon boxes should be a last resort since they are thinner than other boxes and very oddly shaped. Liquor stores and grocery stores give away boxes of uniform size that can help you make a dent, and Frog & Toad or U-Haul can sell you the rest of what you need. Each box needs to be full, but not so heavy that it’s unwieldy. Fill empty space with light padding like linens or crumpled newspaper. And don’t forget to tape the bottom of the box!
Pretend you’re packing for a vacation - fill a luggage with you most-needed items and clothes, as well as medication, chargers, etc and plan to live out of that on move day.
See if a friend or family member can help make a meal or two for your move day. Kitchen stuff will be packed up, and it’s very common to get hungry and strung out. We always bring a lot of snacks to be safe!
We hope you find these helpful, and look forward to working with you
